FullFAT is a fully featured FAT12/16 and FAT32 filesystem driver. It was designed from the ground up to be completely thread-safe. I started development of FullFAT because of a frustration with poor performance, and other buggy open-source FAT implementations.
Worse still looking for commercial options was difficult, because none allow you try their code without a license. Many developers gave poor reviews of the most commonly available libraries, and for us it just wasn't worth the risk.
FullFAT uses algorithms that ensure maximum data I/O throughput whenever possible. Due to FullFAT's layered architecture its also possible to add associative caching quickly and transparently via a plugin. Such a plugin is provided free to commercial customers, however many users have implemented their own with relative ease.
FullFAT was designed and created by James Walmsley, however many others have provided a great deal of help and input. In no particular order they are:
If you are working on an embedded project and you need to provide access to files on an SD-Card, USB Stick, or flash memory device, (Or indeed any mass-storage device), then FullFAT is probably for you. If you're already using a FAT filesystem driver like EFSL, DosFS or other FAT implementations but are dissatisfied with their performance, reliability or overall quality then FullFAT is for you.
